Wise Words - Playing with Dirt

my landscaping needed a makeover, so this weekend was " Play with Dirt Weekend". The problem with my yard and land is that the soil is terrible. It is a mixture of rock, clay and trash. It isn't the ideal land to try and plant anything, but regardless of the land i can't let my yard look a hot mess, so i had to get dirty and use what little knowledge i have of gardening and re-cultivate my land. A lot of digging and pulling up rocks and the infamous WEEDS. Man, i have never seen so many different types of weeds, but while i was working, i saw a beautiful flower. Amazed by it's colors, i couldn't understand how something so beautiful could come from an desolate soil without being seeded. Mesmerized by the flower i realized something. i was fooled...it was not a flower but a weed, and it's roots were interlocked with the roots of my Day Lilly. At the time i couldn't identify if i was more upset that i was fooled by the presents of the weed or because the weed was sucking the life out of my Day Lilly. Right then something echoed in my mind. We have to be aware of weeds...

We have to be aware of Weeds. We live in a world filled with trash, destruction, and death. As communities, governments and homes become desolate lands, weeds are sprouting from multitude of places. Some weeds are recognizable; ugly, disfigured and out of place. Now there are weeds that bear wonderful colors and smells which make it hard to distinguish. But there is a farmer/gardener who looks pass the blossoms, and can see to the root. And from that Gardener we can also become gardeners and recognize/distinguish the roots of others. But the question arises, what type of Flower are you, or are you a weed acting like a rose?

The true essence of a weed is to choke and smother other plants around it. Much like the weed on my land that took the beauty of my Day Lilly at its roots, causing my Day Lilly to look like a night lilly. Are you a weed? Are you stopping others around you? Are you killing dreams, visions, and aspirations? Or are you helping dreams come true?

The miraculous evolution of plants is that once they are rooted somewhere they reproduce other plants like it, and over a period of time that fertile land will become that plant...the said thing about this is that it holds true for both flowers and weeds. Plant yourself in fertile grounds and grow as a plant that has roots stemming from good seed, then pray that Our Gardener comes and uproots those weeds that are trying to smoother you, or give you the strength to bear the battle so when harvest time comes we will be able to reside in the store house.

"When the plants came up and began to ripen, the farmer's servants could see the weeds. The servants came and asked, "Sir, didn't you scatter good seed in your field? Where did these weeds come from?" "An enemy did this," he replied. His servants then asked, "Do you want us to go out and pull up the weeds". "No!" he answered. "You might also pull up the wheat. Leave the weeds alone until harvest time. Then I'll tell my workers to gather the weeds and tie them up and burn them. But I'll have them store the wheat in my barn." Matthew 13:26-30
