"Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." 1 Tim. 3:18
"Do as I say, Not as I do!!!" A trademark quote used by adults who get trapped or caught doing something or saying something that contradicts their teachings. As an adult i find myself always under and curious eye. Watching, learning and waiting for a hypocritical statement or stumbling gesture, the youth and sometimes even my peers anticipate with a scornful eye to see if my actions and words are in true alignment. In my imperfection, at times i stumble and their are times when i fall, and in my embarrassment, the quote may come out, but i have now changed. The older i become the more i understand how much influence i have, not just in my words put more in my works. Living in a world of hypocrites, makes it hard to trust and believe in people, and if our children and youth grow up with the inability to trust in their fathers, it will be just that hard for them to trust in their Heavenly Father.
We are the first steps in setting an example for others to see God's Grace, Humility, Sovereignty and Forgiveness. We have to do as we say, not to exalt us, but to set an example for all. Align your heart with your words, follow your steps with a renewed mind. Teach with words and actions, for there will always be a eye looking and learning....
"Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." 1 John 3:18
