Yesterday i had one of my students observing me, and he notice my shoes. They were a pair of shoes that i've had for years, and no one has ever notice the brand. They are an off-brand shoe, but presentable and comfortable, plus they went with my apparel. As the student said that my shoes weren't cool because of the brand, i informed him that the shoes don't make foot, but the foot makes the shoe. Yeah a little too deep for a sixth graders, but as he tried to understand my point. i told him that the shoe was part of my interchangeable clothing style, unlike what has been put into his mainstream mind. i told him that i don't have to be subject to a certain brand, style or fashion, to make myself feel good. i just have to be thankful for what i have, and make that look as good a i can.
There is a trend that i've seen grow since i was a boy, and that is the yearning for materials. We have grown into boxes that only accepts conformity liked minds. Whether it is accepting people who wear ties everyday, or only people of your own race, we have conditioned are minds to only acknowledge those because of their outward image, or lack of. But we have to be able to break from our traditionally set minds and look at the inward brand of the person. Who we are can't be limited to our outward appearance, but will best be described by our inner spirit.
"Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ....Neither circumcision nor circumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation." Galatians 6:12 &15
