We prepare for our challenges by our daily habits. There is one then certain in life, and that is, we will have challenges, heartaches and struggles, but like most obstacles the more we prepare ourselves, the more we will be able to adjust and adhere to life's stumbling blocks. Correlating this principle to typical situations, we value education to prepare us for a career of choice. We receive training, orientations and probation periods for jobs to equip employees with knowledge in day to day duties. Athletes lift weights, run and train to enhance their performance skills, so they will be able to display their talents on their respected playing field. But how do we train for ridicule, slander, and worldly tragedies? How do we adjust to death, sickness, and unwarranted responsibility.
Early yesterday morning my wife's father struck a fever. Normally, we wouldn't think much of it and would just recommend he take some medicine to relieve him of his symptoms. But this isn't an ordinary case. My father-in-law was recently diagnosed with cancer and had surgery to remove the cancerous cells in his body. Initially we believed the surgery to be a success, but the fever is an indicator that the cancer was still lurking inside his body. Having to be rushed to another city to receive the needed help, the family is faced with a life challenge. In the mist of death and sickness, life takes on a different meaning, as most start to weep, panic and grieve. i saw a peace in my wife. Typically, very emotional i expected my wife to resort to sobbing, heartache, and becoming weary of the unknown future. But her peace stood firm...it is as if she knows something.
My wife was prepared. My wife has been trained. My wife has learned to allow her spiritual development of mind, body and soul lead her into peace. This is how we prepare ourselves for life's battles, tragedies and heartache. We have to train ourselves in the love, mercy and grace of God. We have to use scripture to encourage us during times of grief. We have to pray instead of screaming. We have to prepare ourselves for our time when suffering, ridicule, slander, death, sickness and/or unwarranted responsibility comes, so we are able to stand and find refuge in our peace.
Get into the habit of seeking God, so when the time comes when we really need Him, we'll know how to reach Him!!!
"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. " Psalm 9-10
God is Love and He Loves you and so do i
