Iron Sharpens Iron!!! i love this proverb. It is a powerful and strong statement, but it is the other half of the verse that holds the message. Proverb 27:17 "Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." (NIV) Another translation states"Iron sharpens iron, as a friend sharpens a friend." (NLT) For people to be able to edify and sharpen each other they both need to be of the same substance. To many times we try to match ourselves with people who aren't of the same material as ourselves, nor the material we say we want to be.
How can iron be sharpened by wood, or plastic? It can't...what happens is the iron transforms the other material, while making itself dull, creating an unbalanced relationship. Too many times we are trying to attach ourselves to people and friends that hinder our productivity. Longing for acceptance we lower our standards and make exceptions, instead of standing for what we know, and for what we want. When Iron rubs against Iron, friction accrues, sparks emerge and fire can be produced. This is why we have to find friends and partners that are the same value of ourselves, because it ignites us, creating sparks which awakens, expands and manufactures visions and dreams.
Not all of us have the components to be labeled as Iron, but be encouraged, and find those on your level. Even when wood rubs against wood, or a rock against a rock, fire can be produced...it just takes more effort.
God is Love and He Loves you and so do i
